Ford City was founded in 1887 and incorporated in 1898 by John B. Ford, the founder of the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company, and began as a company town rooted in industry and community. Situated along the Allegheny River in Western Pennsylvania, Ford City has a long history shaped by hard work, resiliency, and shared pride.
Our community is made up of residents from many backgrounds and traditions, reflected in the events, organizations, and gatherings that take place throughout the year. That diversity continues to define the character of the borough today.
We welcome visitors, new residents, and businesses to explore all that Ford City has to offer. The borough is committed to revitalization, thoughtful growth, and preserving its small-town character while planning for the future. We invite you to explore our website and learn more about our community.

Ford City Borough operates a siren system that serves two distinct purposes: emergency weather alerts and the nightly youth curfew reminder.
Tornado Warning Siren:
In the event of a tornado warning or other life-threatening weather emergency, the siren will emit a continuous, high-pitched tone lasting for 3 minutes. This tone is steady and does not rise or fall. If you hear this siren, seek shelter immediately and monitor local alerts.
Curfew Chime:
Each night at 10:00 PM, the siren plays the familiar Westminster chime to signal the start of the Borough’s youth curfew. In accordance with Section 130.02 of the Ford City Borough Code of Ordinances, a curfew is in effect for all individuals under the age of 18.
Curfew Hours:
Effective year-round, minors are prohibited from loitering or being outdoors in public places after 10:00 PM, unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, or possessing a newly written, signed, and dated note from their parent or guardian stating the minor is out on an emergency errand.
This is intended to promote the safety and well-being of minors and to reduce late-night disturbances and loitering within the Borough. We ask all parents and guardians to speak with their children about the curfew to ensure compliance.
