Any individual going door-to-door and having direct contact with residents in order to sell goods or solicit services shall obtain a Solicitor’s Permit from the Ford City Borough Office. There are some exceptions to this requirement, however, such as simply leaving a flyer at the door without knocking or engaging in any way with residents, or religious organizations and candidates during an election season. Please contact the office with any questions regarding the criteria for needing to obtain a Solicitation Permit.
For Solicitors/Peddlers:
Individuals interested in soliciting or peddling within the borough are required to complete an application and provide a copy of their Driver’s License. Applications for a Solicitation Permit can be found here or in person at the Ford City Borough Municipal Building, where the completed application must be submitted. Background checks on each individual going door-to-door will be conducted by an officer of Southern Armstrong Regional Police Department. Please note, this approval process involves multiple parties which does not guarantee same-day approvals.
For Residents:
The photo below provides an example of the permit that solicitors in Ford City Borough will be issued. The permit will be signed by a borough official. Solicitors must carry this permit with them and be able to provide it to you if requested.
If a solicitor cannot produce the City-issued permit upon request, please call Southern Armstrong Regional Police Department (724-845-7979) or 911 immediately to report this. We request that you also follow up with the borough office at 724-763-3081 weekdays during regular business hours.
