Civil Service Commission Officer

The Ford City Borough Civil Service Commission seeks applicants to establish an eligibility list for the position of a police officer for the Borough of Ford City.  Applications packets are available at the Borough Office located at 1000 4th Avenue, Ford City, PA 16226, during regular business hours Monday through Friday. Additionally, applications can also be found at the Ford City Borough website, fordcityborough.org.

In order to satisfy the general qualifications for this position, an applicant must be a citizen of the United States, must reach their twenty-first (21st) birthday before the deadline for submitting applications, must reside in the Borough of Ford City or within thirty (30) air miles of the Borough within six (6) months of completing their probationary period, must have graduated from an accredited high school or an equivalent education acceptable to the Borough’s Civil Service Commission, must be Act 120 certified, must be medically fit for the performance of the duties of a police officer, must be of good moral character, and must be license to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Completed applications must be filed by 12:00 pm on Friday, July 11, 2022 in the Borough Office located at 1000 4th Avenue, Ford City, PA 16226.  A $50.00 non-refundable application fee is due to the Borough at the time of filing. Successful applicants will be notified via certified mail to proceed with the written test, which will take place on August 6th, 2022 at 10:00 am.

Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Officer

Ford City Borough is accepting applications for part-time Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Officer; up to 20 hours per week.  Duties may include administering and enforcing various land use and nuisance regulations, conducting field inspections of properties to determine compliance with various land use and nuisance regulations, conducting field inspections of properties and performing non-owner, occupied residential occupancy inspections, working with agencies to resolve code issues, attending public meetings as needed, taking photos of possible violations to document findings and performing other work related as assigned.  The ideal candidate would have the ability to interpret and apply the PA Uniform Construction Code and the International Property Maintenance Code to situations that arise, ability to enforce regulations tactfully and firmly, ability to establish and maintain effective record-keeping systems, ability to express ideas effectively (written and verbal).  Experience is preferred.

Part-Time Police Officer

Ford City Police Department is seeking part-time Police Officers. This position includes performing a wide variety of duties involving both foot and mobile patrol. Duties include, but are not limited to: enforcing all traffic, non-traffic and parking regulations; conducting investigations; business checks; daily reports; etc.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have successfully completed ACT 120.
  • Have a High School diploma or GED.
  • Have a valid PA Driver’s License.
  • Be 21 years of age.
  • Be physically fit to perform job duties.
  • Be able to pass a fit for duty physical.
  • Be able to pass a drug/alcohol test.
  • Be able to pass a background check. 

Upon hire, employees will receive a uniform allowance and will go through a 6-month probationary period.  Paid holidays as well as paid vacation, sick and personal days.
