Tree Planting A HUGE Success

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the HUGE success of this Spring’s community tree planting event, made possible through our partnership with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy and TreeVitalize Pittsburgh.

Nearly 50 volunteers came out on Saturday with amazing energy and enthusiasm, and in just a few hours, 25 new trees were planted across the Borough. Of those, 20 trees now line the riverfront park along the trail, enhancing one of our most heavily used recreational assets, while 5 trees were planted in Ford City Memorial Park to strengthen and restore that important community space.

We were especially excited to have employee volunteers from Belleflex Technologies and Pullflex Technologies join us, as well as volunteers from Armstrong Associates Federal Credit Union. Their commitment to giving back to the community made a tremendous impact and truly helped bring this project to life!

This effort would not have been possible without the hard work of our Planning Commission and Shade Tree Commission, who secured all 25 trees at absolutely no cost to the Borough. That is a major win for our community and a testament to their dedication.

From start to finish, this was a powerful example of what can happen when a community comes together. These trees will provide shade, beauty, and environmental benefits for generations to come.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, pitched in, and made this day such a success. We couldn’t have done it without you!
