Ford City Borough Parks and Recreation Committee is excited to announce the upcoming Ford City Borough Parks and Recreation Memorial Brick Walk, a community fundraising project designed to honor Ford City’s past while helping build a stronger future for the Borough’s parks and recreational spaces.
The Parks and Recreation Committee is made up of Alysia Rittner, Carol Mikula, Abby Nimerosky, Tanya Gladysiewski, and Robert Long.
Through this project, residents, families, organizations, businesses, and community supporters may purchase personalized bricks to memorialize loved ones, honor veterans, recognize families, celebrate organizations, or acknowledge anyone with meaningful ties to Ford City. The bricks will be installed in Ford City Park near the existing memorial and nearby walkway, creating a lasting tribute in one of the Borough’s central community spaces.
Proceeds from the Memorial Brick Walk will help provide matching funds for existing and future grant-funded park improvements throughout the Borough. Ford City Borough has already secured grant funding for the Ford City Borough Trail Improvement Project and the Malec Park Rehabilitation Project and is currently seeking grant funding for the Ford View Park Rehabilitation Project.
“This project is about more than bricks,” said Alysia Rittner, Chair of the Ford City Borough Parks and Recreation Committee. “It is about giving residents and families a lasting way to be part of Ford City’s story while helping support improvements to the parks and public spaces that serve our entire community.”

Abby Nimerosky, Parks and Recreation Committee Secretary and project contact, said the committee hopes the Memorial Brick Walk will give residents an easy and meaningful way to support local park improvements.
“Many people have deep roots in Ford City, whether through family, service, business, school, or community involvement,” Nimerosky said. “The Memorial Brick Walk gives people a chance to recognize those connections in a permanent way while also helping move important park projects forward.”
Borough Manager Charles Stull said the project is another example of the Borough working to stretch grant dollars and reduce the local burden of community improvement projects.
“Grant funding is an important tool for moving these projects forward, but most grants still require a local match,” Stull said. “This project gives the community an opportunity to directly support improvements to our parks while helping the Borough meet those matching requirements without relying solely on taxpayer dollars.”
Brick purchases may be made online by credit card through the project website or by completing a paper order form and submitting payment by check, money order, or cash at the Borough Office. Project brochures and order forms are available at the Borough Office and at various locations around town.
There is currently no purchase deadline. The Borough anticipates that bricks will be installed in Spring 2027.
